Amal Umar was born on 21 October, 1998 in Katsina State, Nigerian. She is a devout Muslim and from the Hausa ethnic group. She received her primary and secondary education in her hometown, Katsina. The actress went further to attain her a Diploma in Yusuf Maitama Sule University, in Kano State, Nigeria studying Film and Television.[2]
Amal Umar is a private individual and has exposed less about her personal life, family and relationship, she chose to keep things more professional showcasing her work more often.[1] But in an interview with blueprint newspaper, she exposed that her parents are from Sokoto but now reside in Kano.[3] She did not mention their names or any further information, until September 23, 2020, she celebrated her father’s birthday on twitter now X. Amal Umar has disclosed that she has always dreamt to set the pace for other young Nigerians especially women, who wants to fulfill their dreams, as long as they set their mind on it. The actress has always wanted to be on the big screen from a young age, and she has worked really hard to make that dream a reality.

Is Amal Umar an ex-convict?
In 2022, the kano state police command launched an investigation on Amal Umar for allegedly scheming with her supposed boyfriend, Ramadan to defraud a businessman, Alhaji Yusuf Adamu, who accused her of collecting his money with an agreement of establishing a mobile phone business.
Amal Umar reported the case to the court. At the first court hearing on February 2023, the case was adjourned by Justice Sanusi Ado Magaji to the next month.
On the second court hearing, Barrister Badamasi revealed that the actress truly defrauded the man of the sum of N40 million, backing it up with documents.
However, the actress through her counsel, Barrister Adama Usman denied the claim, saying that the plantiff, Alhaji Yusuf Adamu, only gave her N8 million to open a shop ad N3 million to pay a debt for her father. She also presented documents defending this claim.
Barrister Adama therefore requested the court to stop the police from investigating or arresting her client.
Justice Magaji adjourned the case to the next month, April 17, 2023. That was the last heard of the case on the media.
