Godswill Akpabio criticized for claiming he visited Tinubu over Lagos building collapse

The minister of Niger Delta affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, on Thursday, November 25 visited Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu which has gained him much criticism online, after the senator claimed the visit was because of the recent ikoyi building collapse in Lagos state.

The minister, who is the immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom state, made this known in a post on his Facebook page on Friday, November 26.

Akpabio and Tinubu have both maintained a cordial relationship since the former moved to the APC.

Taking to Facebook He wrote: “I was at the residence of the Leader of our great party, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, on a condolence visit over the recent building collapse in Lagos, where several Nigerians lost their lives. I prayed for the repose of the souls of those who died in the unfortunate incident.

“I also used the visit to welcome our leader back from his successful medical trip abroad and prayed to God to grant him good health in abundance.”

The minister’s post, however, triggered many of his followers who criticized his reason for visiting the former governor of Lagos state.

Chukwuma Eze wrote: “You went to commiserate with the landlord of Lagos not even the governor. No wonder nothing is working in Nigeria. You old folks holds Nigeria in the jugular strangling everything good out of it. May God judge all of you.”

Joseph Chinedu Ugwu wrote: “The condolence visit should be for the governor unless you’re paying him condolence visit in advance.” Paul Ndu asks: “Stop dragging the dead into your dirty politics. You people meet to plan how to continue your business of strangulating the poor masses and the generation unborn and you come here to drag victims of the collapsed Ikoyi building. Meanwhile is Tinubu bereaved?”

Nwabueze Ugwusie wrote: “You went to commiserate with Tinubu rather than the families of those who died? You leaders don’t care about the masses only your interests. What a shame.”

Chijioke Nwankpa wrote: “You went on a political mission. Stop desecrating the memory of the dead people by claiming you went to commiserate.”
