Popular Nigerian music producer, Phillip Kayode Moses also known as Pheelz has said he could not afford to buy a bottle of water in 2021.
The artiste made this known in an interview with Rollin Stone magazine as he said that his 2022 hit song with BNXN titled ‘Finesse’ was the turning point for him.
He said that things started to fall apart for him from early 2021 despite releasing his debut EP, ‘Hear Me Out’ in February of the same year.
Pheelz said the EP racked up millions of streams on global platforms, but the process cost him a lot of money, leaving a huge dent in his finances.
He also said that the matter got more complicated when his girlfriend ended their five-year relationship, and his best friend of 15 years abruptly ended their friendship via text one night.
He said that he lost everything except his house and friends were the ones feeding him during that period.
The ‘Electricity’ crooner said; “It was a moment of being alone with myself. I have a vlog where I’d record myself and my thoughts every day. Two months ago, I checked that vlog and I saw myself, and it was just crazy because I had a beard.
I didn’t have enough money to buy bottled water; I would have friends send me food. I lost everything except the roof over my head.”
When asked how he felt with the about the turn of events, the producer said he believed it was just fate doing its thing.
“I just think it’s the universe. I feel like for this level that I’m on, that period needed to happen,” Pheelz added.
