“If you love Imole go home” – Police pleaded with Lekki protesters before tear gassing them

Protesters at the Lekki toll gate has been reportedly tear gassed by members of the Nigerian police force.

Members of the Nigerian police force reportedly tear gassed protesters at the Lekki tollgate who gathered to participate in a peaceful protest in honour of late singer, Mohbad.

The peaceful protest started some days back with the aim of seeking justice and for the police to initiate investigation into the cause of the late singer’s death.


According to several reports, after the death of the singer claimed that he died of an ear infection and this fact still. remains unconfirmed.

However, the corpse of the singer was exhumed for autopsy.

Following this, many of his supporters held protest across different parts of the country to commemorate his memory.

A significant number of individuals gathered at the Lekki tollgate after holding a candlelight procession to mourn the singer.

However, police officers arrived at the location during the late hours, urging and warning the peaceful attendees to return home due to the late hour.

However they refused to obliged and were later tear gassed by the police
