After several weeks of being admitted to the hospital, Doctors were still unable to diagnose the illness, leading some of her fans to believe that it was a spiritual attack.

However,in July 2021, Maryam Yahaya later clarified that her illness was not a spiritual attack and that she was in good health. She attributed her recovery to the grace of God and the support of her loved ones. 

She also made it clear that she had no issues with her colleagues in the movie industry and she has no intentions of suspecting anyone.
