A Nigerian lady has been arrested by customs officials at an Indian airport on Tuesday, Febuary 1st for allegedly smuggling cocaine worth over N75 million into the country.
A Nigerian lady was arrested by customs officials at the Indian Airport (Delhi International Airport) on Thursday, February 1st for allegedly smuggling cocaine worth ₹82 crore (N75 million) into the country.
The custom officials made the arrest after the young woman arrived from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
According to an official statement the suspect was intercepted and subjected to a thorough baggage search.
During the examination, officials discovered a hidden substance inside two blue-colored trolley bags carried by the passenger.
Upon further inspection it was revealed to be a total of 5.8 kg of a white powdery substance suspected to be narcotics.
Upon subjecting the substance to a diagnostic test, it appeared to contain a commercial quantity of cocaine.
The international value of the seized narcotics is estimated to be ₹82.446 crore.
In response to the discovery, the customs officials promptly arrested the passenger, and the confiscated narcotics were seized.
