Odumodublvck Early Life and Education

Odumodublvck was born on 19 October I993 into a Christian polygamous home of Mr and Mrs Ojukwu. He was born and raised in Lagos State, Nigeria as the only child of his mother. He has 6 siblings – 2 brothers and 4 sisters from his stepmother.[1][2]  He is Igbo by tribe and hails from Enugu State, Nigeria.

Odumodublvck’s father is late, he died of cancer. But his mom is still alive. On October 16, 2021, he posted his dad on Instagram with the caption “Diokpa”.

The fast-rising rapper attended Christ the King College in Gwagwalada, Abuja, for his Junior secondary education, where he acquired the stage name “Odumodu” in his second year. 

He further had his tertiary education at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), where he earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Mass Communications.[2]

At the age of 17, he relocated with his family to Abuja and is currently based there. The singer seems to love Abuja, as he claims that the central city of Nigeria aligns with his musical career other than Lagos state where the majority of musicians just like him reside.

In an interview with Pulse Nigeria, he talked about how he loves Abuja and how it aligns with his dreams, that he will continue to live and die in Abuja. He further added how Abuja is less competitive and more favorable to Lagos for upcomers. 

He said, “I will never move to Lagos. I can only come there to promote my music or spend some time with my guys over there. Abuja is my home forever and this does not mean that I have a personal vendetta against Lagos. It’s just that my dreams and ambitions in regard to developing Abuja do not tally with Lagos. I love Abuja so much and this is where I will die.”[3]

Odumodublvck’s passion for music traces back to his early school days, he has always been a music lover. Back then he would mime to other artists. Sometimes he would do that via his car stereo, and his driver would always encourage him to pursue music because of his intense passion.[3] 

In 2016, he fully embarked on his music career after accompanying his brother Agunna to the studio, which he was supposed to manage instead, his brother encouraged him to pick up a pen and write. This marked the beginning of his music career.

A year later, he released his first track, marking the beginning of a consistent stream of impressive musical releases.[3] 

In 2022, Odumodublvck Came to the limelight. He released a joint studio album with B.O.C Madaki, titled “The Drop,” and a few months later, he released a follow-up single, “Picanto,” featuring Ecko Miles and Zlatan which debuted at number 8 and number 15 under TurnTable Top 100 and  Nigeria Hip-Hop/Rap Songs chart respectively on 21 November, 2022.[4][5] 

A week later, “Picanto” again debuted at number 79 and reached number 65 on the Nigerian Top 100, and number 44 on Nigeria Radio. On December 1, 2022, it reached number 6 on the Nigeria Hip-Hop/Rap Songs chart.[1]

In 2022, Odumodublvck’s achievements continued to grow as he performed alongside DRB LasGidi and Victony at the Jameson Connects concert in Abuja. The event was a testament to his growing success and recognition in the music scene.[1] 

On December 8, 2022, he won the Next Rated Artist category at Galaxy Music Awards, receiving a Lexus IS 350 as part of the prize.[6] 

The next day, he was announced on the lineup of Vertical Rave concert opening acts, alongside Teezee, Cruel Santino, PsychoYP, Odunsi the Engine, and others, held on December 17, 2022.

On March 24, 2023, he released his first single, “Declan Rice”. Three days later, the single earned him his first top 10 entry on TurnTable’s official Nigeria Top 100 Songs chart at number 8. On April 1, 2023, “Declan Rice” led TheCable Lifestyle airplay chart at number 1.[1][7]

On July 15, 2023, The English football club, Arsenal announced the signing of the West Ham United captain and midfielder, Declan Rice using odumodublvck’s song, “Declan Rice” in the background.

Before the song’s release on 24 March 2023,  Declan Rice expressed his excitement as Nigerians sang his name, courtesy of Odumodublvck. After the announcement, the music reached the number one spot on Apple Music Top 100.[8][9]

Odumodublvck’s genre of music is a unique blend of Afrobeat, drill, and grime music. His songs are known for expressing love themes and addressing societal issues. 

Dazed Magazine described his music as “unrelenting,” with high-life melodies and Nigerian Pidgin English that tells colorful stories about society and everyday life.

They further added that the details of his music are so specific to Nigerians that it can be difficult for those outside the culture to fully appreciate the nuances.[10]

Odumodublvck Net Worth

The talented Nigerian rapper, Odumodublvck’s net worth is estimated to be approximately $500,000.

His source of income stems from various activities surrounding his body of work including streaming royalties, performances and endorsement deals.

Odumodublvck has several ambassadorial deals such as his impressive £50,000 (N47 million) endorsement deal with Slawn founded by London-based Nigerian designer, Olaolu Slawn, which he took to his twitter page on Friday, June 16, 2023.

He wrote, “Slawn paid me 50 thousand pounds to wear this shirt, brand ambassador money”.[14]

Earlier in 2023, He also bagged an ambassadorial deals with the fintech startup, Yellow Card alongside other african artists such as Stonebwoy in Ghana, Tay Grin in Malawi and Douglas Lwanga in Uganda.[15]

In the same 2023, the rapper also sealed a deal with the Cubana group owned by the renowned Nigerian businessman and entrepreneur Obi aka Obi Cubana as the brand ambassador for Odogwu Hammer drinks. He was signed alongside the actor, Charles Okocha.[16]

Odumodublvck’s Record Label

In 2022, Odumodublvck, the talented rapper, signed a record deal with NATIVE Records, with a partnership with Def Jam, marking a significant milestone in his career. 

NATIVE Records is a UK-based Nigerian record label, founded by Chubbziano and Teezee, co-founders of The Native magazine. This partnership has been instrumental in advancing Odumodublvck’s musical journey.[17]

Odumodublvck’s Relationship Status

Odumodublvck is not single as dispersed by various sources. Rather he has been private about his relationship status, but recently he revealed his girlfriend, though her name is not yet disclosed.[2]

On 7 June 2023, he tweeted on his X/Twitter handle saying he was exposing himself before the public mass would do it against his will. The tweet was accompanied by a picture of him lying down and  his hands holding a heavily endowed lady.[18]

The tweet raised questions, criticisms, and approval from his fans, who immediately hopped on the saga and shared their thoughts according to their views.

What inspired Odumodublvck Stage Name?

The rapper got his stage name when he was in his second year in his secondary school. 

He also revealed in the Interview he had with Pulse Nigeria, how he got the name after playing a prank on his classmate, which got the person scared. So out of fear, he said ‘guy you resemble ODUMODUBLVCK,’ which was a name of a masquerade in his town.[3]

As of then, he didn’t like the name and was so angry because people were laughing and then in secondary school, he had to answer the name more frequently because the names you don’t like stick.

When he started his musical career, He went by the name, T Flows. He called it “one of the wackiest names of all time”.[9]

He further added on how he got the name Big Gun, he said “About ‘Big Gun,’ I was going through a lot in the music industry and they wanted to Blacklist me. So I was in the studio one day freestyling angrily and I said, Shakabula dey inside my tongue, ODUMODUBLVCK, my middle name na Big Gun. And immediately I knew that was my alias because that’s how my sound is also threatening and fierce like a SHAKABULA or a BAZOOKA.”[3]

Odumodublvck Cap Significance

Odumodublvck has expressed how he wants his music to be seen and heard as a reason why he wears his cap.

According to the rapper, he wants his audience’s soul to tremble at the sound of his vocals. He called it the sound of a warrior, a sound that is real and the reason why he wears that Igbo cap called OKPU AGU, which means ‘The Warrior’s Hat.’[3] 

Is Odumodublvck Sick?

In 2022, Odumodublvck underwent a major surgery that posed a significant threat to his life. 

Shortly after being discharged from the hospital following the surgery, he received a call from friends informing him that Wizkid had co-signed his song “Picanto,” which featured Zlatan Ibile.[2] 

This event marked a significant moment in his career, showcasing the recognition and support he was receiving within the music industry.

Odumodublvck Political Stand

On May 25, 2023, Odumodu publicly shared that he declined a request to perform at the presidential inauguration of the 16th President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu Renewed Hope concert.[20]

In a tweet, he expressed, “They Tried To Get Me To Perform At The Inauguration. They Did Not Do Their Research.” 

This decision came after he declared support for Peter Obi in the second verse of the NATIVE Sound System single “Vex” on March 2, 2023, where he stated, “I dey hope on Peter Obi to save me.”[20] 

Additionally, he had earlier described himself as Peter Obi’s running mate on social media. This series of events reflects Odumodu’s active engagement in political discourse and his deliberate stance on political affiliations.[19]

Odumodublvck boasts an impressive music career and a luxurious lifestyle. He owns several cars, including a Kia Picanto and a Lexus ES 330. The Kia Picanto is a compact yet stylish city car that has been in production since 2003.

He got the Lexus ES 330 after winning the Next Rated Award at the Galaxy Music Awards 2022. It is a four-door sedan with a 3.0L 1MZ-FE E V6 engine or a 3.3L 3MZ-FE V6 engine. They both use gasoline and are mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission.

In addition to his cars, Odumodublvck recently won a two-bedroom apartment in Lekki, Lagos State, courtesy of a real estate company, Citadel View Estate, after winning the Rookie of the Year category at the Headies Award in 2023[21]

The CEO of the company, Ned Okonkwo, noted that the gesture was a way of supporting the artiste and ensuring that he no longer has to worry about having a roof over his head as he continues to make great music.[21]
