“This is mockery to christianity” — Asake under fire over ‘Only Me’ video

Nigerian singer, Asake, sparks outrage on social media over the recent video of his hit single, ‘Only Me’.

Nigerian singer, Asake, has provoked outrage on social media over his recently released video for his hit single, ‘Only Me’.

The singer announced on his social media that the music video will be released on Thursday, 29th February.

The music video which was directed by TG Omori, had Asake clad in priestly regalia while giving out communion in a place decorated like a church.

His video vixens were also dressed up like mass servers (the people who assist the priests in the church).

The video has condemned on social media, where Asake who is a Muslim was accused of “continually disrespecting the Christian faith”.

Some users also referred to a scene in his ‘Bandana‘ video, where black goats trooped into a church to prove their arguments.

“Asake keeps disrespecting the Christian faith in his music videos. Dramatizing giving the Eucharist, robed up in priestly regalia for a music video that has no connection with Christianity is disrespectful,” Solomon Buchi, the life coach, wrote.

“In his Bandana video, he depicts black goats troping into the church, with cloven tongues of fire above weird men. Asake, I think, is a Muslim. Why doesn’t he go above and beyond to embarrass his Muslim faith in this same way?

“Why do Christians even listen to these musicians who bluntly disrespect Christianity?”

Another user wrote: “Christianity has lost it’s value untill even Muslims are condemning what Asake did in this video”.
