The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa State has sacked the incumbent Governor, Sule Abdullahi and declared PDP candidate, David Ombugadu as duly elected.
The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa State, has sacked Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State and declared opposition candidate of People’s Democratic Party, David Ombugadu, as the duly elected governor of the state
This was made in a ruling delivered on Monday, 2nd of October where two of the justices agreed that the election was won by the PDP while one judge dissented.
Governor Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was the former governor of the state before he sought re-election for a second term at the 2023 general election but was met with strong opposition during the election. However, he was declared the winner of the election by INEC.
At the polls Governor Sule Abdullahi polled a total of 347,209 votes to defeat his closest opponent, Mr Ombugadu, who secured 283,016 votes.
