Popular musician, Yemi Alade has stated the reason why she does not get awards despite her success and recognition in the music industry.
According to the singer, she rarely win awards in Nigeria because she refuses to accept sex request from organizers of these award events.
The singer made this revelation during an interview with WithinNigeria. She noted that many entertainment executives have previously solicited sex from her while promising her better opportunities.
She emphasised that she has no remorse about declining their advances because she still has her dignity and devoted fans.
“There was a time in the industry when everyone wanted to sleep with me and it was like, ‘Yemi, if you don’t do this, you won’t have that. Today men are the reason I don’t win awards in Nigeria,”
“Going down with men was like a bridge I had to cross to get on some platforms, get some deals, and even awards. When I made my decision never to engage in sexual activities for gains, lots of opportunities were automatically blocked for me.”
